Data from the International Finance Corporation shows that more than 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills by 2030, generating 130 billion USD in talent training and workforce development opportunities.
"China continues to take the lead in digital infrastructure, and we need to learn from their experience and train local youths to lead in digital infrastructure development," said Joshua Opey, founding executive director of the ABAN Center for Global Policy. He believed that to unleash the potential, it is important to build practical pathways that connect digital universal skills with economic empowerment, increase investment in digital infrastructure, cultivate the capacity of African youth to build and operate such infrastructure, and bridge the digital connectivity divide.
